Florence G. Froslie

Florence G. Froslie, age 87, a resident of Barnesville, Minnesota, formerly of Rothsay, died on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at the Golden Manor Assisted Living in Barnesville, Minnesota. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay, MN with Pastor Randy Whitehead officiating.  Burial will follow in Our Savior’s Cemetery, Rothsay, MN.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Friday, August 12, 2016 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Florence G. Gruenberg was born on August 13, 1928 to Herman and Clara (Mittendorf) Gruenberg near Kent, MN.  She grew up and attended school in the Wolverton, MN.  As a young woman, Florence moved to Fargo to work and was a nanny who cared for three children.  She met Raymond A. Froslie at the Crystal Ballroom in Fargo and they became dancing partners.  On October 8, 1948, Florence and Raymond married at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Wolverton.  They farmed grain and livestock in the Barnesville and Rothsay area until 2008 when they moved to Barnesville.  They attended school activities, traveled to Norway and Hawaii and enjoyed bus tours.  Florence enjoyed baking angel food cakes, brownies, and bread.  Dancing, photography, collecting cookbooks and tea pots were favorite hobbies of Florence.  She was a member of the Fergus Falls Eagles Aerie, VFW Auxiliary in Fergus Falls and Barnesville.  She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rothsay where she took part in the ladies aid, taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir.  Florence is survived by her children: Steve (Linda) Froslie, Barnesville, MN; daughter: Vivian Nelson, Virginia Beach, VA; Edward (Kat) Froslie, Fargo, ND; Clifford (Karen) Froslie, Rothsay, MN; and Alan (Cindy) Froslie, Putnam, CT; grandchildren: Kory (Nikki) Froslie; Brett (Kari) Froslie; Ryan (Kelli) Froslie; Christopher (Traci) Nelson; Kim Nelson; Matt Nelson; Bonnie (Jarrod) Stenberg; Teresa (Shawn) Nelson; Stacy (Ryan) Lindbom; Kyle (Desiree) Froslie; Alyson (Mark) Bjornstad; Bethany Froslie (Darin Montplaisir); and Alan Jr. (fiancée Kylah Violette) Froslie; great-grandchildren: Sidney Froslie; Ben Froslie; Alex Froslie; Kayla Froslie; Taia Albertson; Ellis Froslie; Natalie Froslie; Quinn Froslie; Christopher Nelson, Jessi Nelson; Zachary Nelson; Jarrod Stenberg, Jr.; Jozlynn Stenberg; Jordan Stenberg; Brayden Nelson; Rylan Nelson; Ryder Lindbom; Ryn Lindbom; Owen Froslie; Thomas Froslie; Kate Froslie; and William Bjornstad; brother: Louis Gruenberg, Moorhead, MN; sisters-in-law: Violet and Ruth Gruenberg, Breckenridge, MN; also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond on July 26, 2011; her parents; sister-in-law, Evelyn Brevik; and great-grandson Jacob Kory Froslie; brothers: Alvin Gruenberg; AW (Fern) Gruenberg; Robert (Audrey) Gruenberg; Harold Gruenberg; Leonard Gruenberg; sisters LaVonne Gruenberg, Evelyn (Ted) Marohl, Dorothy (Erhart) Marohl, and Loretta (Lawrence) Plummer.    In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Lake Region Cancer Center, Fergus Falls, MN.  Florence Froslie Folder
