Nancy Aakre

Nancy Aakre, 71, of Moorhead, formerly of Rollag, MN, died at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, MN on Monday, October 17, 2016.    Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, October 21, 2016 at Rollag Lutheran Church with Rev. Jim Greene officiating.  Burial will follow in Rollag Lutheran Cemetery.    Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM, Thursday at the Bottolfson Chapel in Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, MN with a Prayer Service at 2:30 PM.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.  Nancy Raye Aakre was born on November 11, 1944 to Raymond Walter and Norma Evangeline (Anderson) Aakre in Moorhead, MN.  She was baptized and confirmed at Rollag Lutheran Church.  She attended country schools, District #3 and #29 near Rollag and Barnesville Public School.  In the last few years, she has lived in Eventide Communities in Moorhead.    Nancy was a lifetime member of Rollag Lutheran Church and active with the Esther Circle, Church Choir, Sunday School, WELCA, and Bible School.  She also was a member of the Parke 4-H Club and the Aakre Birthday Club.  She was the family historian, who kept track of family birthdays; a keeper of the significant dates.  She entered sheep in 4-H, and wildflowers on many occasions at the Clay County Fair.   Nancy was good at math, word games, bingo and crafts.  Nancy’s view of the world was positive, and she saw the best in everyone.  She would go out of her way to greet people and make them feel welcome.    She is survived by five siblings:  Dwight (Karen) Aakre, Rollag, MN; Phyllis Aakre, Fargo, ND; Dean (Pam) Aakre, Barnesville, MN; Dale Aakre, Rollag, MN; and Jan (Tom Manikowske) Reiser, Fargo, ND; 11 nieces and nephews; 20 great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.      Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Norma; brother-in-law Larry Reiser; and great nephew Hayden Nelson.  Nancy Aakre funeral program
