Kern Kuhlmann, 55, died on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from complications from a stroke at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND. Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Grove Lake Lutheran Church with Rev. Gary Erdman officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. Kern Thomas was born on March 18, 1961 to William and Sonja (Hurst) Offley in Moorhead. He was adopted by Bernard Kuhlmann as a young child. He was baptized at Grove Lake and Confirmed at Marine on St. Croix. He grew up in many places in Minnesota including Barnesville, St. Paul, Stillwater, Marine on St. Croix, and Pelican Rapids. In 1980, he graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. He went on to attend Wahpeton Science School and learned electrical. He worked at several places including Bennet Electric, Furfoods, Dynamic Homes, Zitzow Electric, and for the last several years had his own business called K & K Kuhlmann Construction. Kern enjoyed: model railroad trains, animals, fishing and hunting, woodworking, spending time with his friends and watching TV. As a kid, he enjoyed 4-H, rabbits, and woodworking. He was a member of the Red River Modular Train Club. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, Pelican Rapids, MN; two children: Kody and Kayla, Pelican Rapids; parents William (Patricia Gordaoff) Offley; Sedro Woolley, WA; and Sonja Kuhlmann, Barnesville; siblings: Kory (Connie) Kuhlmann; Kyloe Fisher; Klara Julsrud; James (Janel) Offley; William Offley Jr; Andrew (Terissa) Churchhill; Laurie Galovick; Michele (Frankie) Batchelor; and Edward Churchill.
