Richard Erdmann

Richard Erdmann, 79, lifetime resident of Barnesville, died on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 following complications of a brain bleed at Essentia Hospital in Fargo.  Memorial services will be held 7:00 PM, Friday, February 17, 2017 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville.  Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the memorial service Friday.  Richard Erdmann was born on December 7, 1937 to Arnold and Mary (Kmetz) Erdmann on a farm near Barnesville.  He grew up and attended school in Barnesville.  He worked for area farmers in his younger years including Tom Hilgers and Phil Barry.  For several years, he also worked in the spud house over the winter.  For over 30 years, he worked for Henry Brothers Construction Company in Moorhead as a truck driver, until his retirement.    Skip enjoyed playing pool and cards.  He loved to socialize with friends uptown and watch sports.  He also enjoyed spending time at the casino.  During the 1960’s he was married to Margene Hines.  For the past several years, he loved his time spent with Jenny Hoppe and her family, who treated him like one of the family.    Skip is survived by one sister Betty Johnson, Barnesville, one brother Ron Erdmann, Barnesville, several nieces and nephews.    He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Virgil, Bob, and infant brother James, and sister Shirley Lohse.
