David “Jug” Lamb, died on Friday, May 12, 2017 surrounded by his family at Essentia Hospital in Fargo. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville with Father Gary LaMoine presiding. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Barnesville with military honors provided by the Barnesville American Legion and VFW Honor Guard. Visitation will be Monday, May 15, 2017 from 5-8 PM, at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to Mass on Tuesday. David Alexander Lamb III was born on June 27, 1934 in Barnesville, MN to David Alexander Jr and Flora Isabelle (Jolly) Lamb. He attended country school at District #27 near Downer until the 8th grade when the school closed. He graduated from Barnesville High School in 1952. He served his country in the US Army from 1952-1955. He worked in security and was stationed in Germany for two years. He returned to the states and went to school at the Gale Institute in Minneapolis. He then worked for the Western Airline in Wyoming and Minneapolis. He was united in marriage to Eva Mae Euteneuer on February 9, 1957. They moved to Moorhead where he worked for Firestone Tire for a year, then for the Knerr Dairy for four years. In 1963, he began a long career at the Moorhead Post Office as a carrier. He remembers starting out with a three wheeled scooter, and then with a 4 wheel cart with a wind shade. For over 16 years, he served the Moorhead Morningside neighborhood. In 1965, Eva and Jug moved their family to Barnesville. Jug volunteered for 25 years on the Barnesville Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a life member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion Clubs in Barnesville. He also served on the Honor Guard for many fallen veterans. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, and the National Association of Letter Carriers. Jug enjoyed fishing and hunting. In his later years, he enjoyed playing cards with the ladies at the senior center and an occasional trip to the casino. Jug will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed his time with family and especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eva of Barnesville; four children: Barb (Terry) Tumberg, Wadena, MN; Craig (Pam) Lamb, Chaska, MN; David (Melonee) Lamb IV, Carlos, MN; and Gary (DeAnn) Lamb, West Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Kevin Tumberg, Cory Tumberg, Nicole (Nate) Lamb-Madsen, Kyle (Courtney) Lamb, David (Lindsey) Lamb V, Andrew (Megan) Lamb, Jacob Lamb, Brienna Lamb, Heidi (Ben) Tillman, Cory Fleck, Justin Fleck, and Joshua Fleck; and two great grandchildren: Bryce Tillman and Andrew Tillman.
