Schindler and to this union seven children were born.  They lived north of Barnesville on a farm for many years before moving into town.  Throughout her life she worked for many area farmers in the potato fields. She also waitressed at Lakies café, and for several years she worked at the nursing home in Barnesville.  Following that, she continued to care for people in their own homes.  Glenora enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, fishing, and camping.  She was an avid gardener and canned many quarts of her produce.  She made it a point to teach each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren to play cards so that she never ran out of partners.  In her later years, playing bingo was a highlight.  Her sense of humor and quick wit was enjoyed by all.  Glenora was proud to be a gold star mother but was saddened at how she became one after the death of her son Eugene during the Vietnam War.  She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, the Guild, the Forester’s and Ladies Aid and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary.  Glenora is survived by six children:  Richard (Cheryl) Schindler, Barnesville; Charlotte (Doug) Nelson, Barnesville;  Howard Schindler, Barnesville; Rose (Bernard) Bates, Moorhead; Maurice (Julie Hanson) Schindler, Fargo; and Joseph Schindler, Barnesville; 11 grandchildren: Dawnnette (Mark) Pallas, Saginaw, TX; Randy (Pam) Nelson, Barnesville; Darin Nelson, Rosholt, SD; Jamie (Angie) Nelson, Moorhead; Michael (Anna) Nelson, Moorhead; Melissa (Adam) Gunderson, Royalton, MN; Christine Bates, Lake Park, MN; Catherine Bates, Hawley, MN; Bernard (Beth) Bates, Fargo, ND; Eugene (Jenna) Bates, Fargo, ND; and Angie Bundy, Minneapolis, MN; 24 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and a  sister Beverly Bales.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her son Eugene in 1968; her parents Frank and Theresa Hilgers; brothers: Bernard Hilgers, Robert Hilgers, Wally Hilgers, and Jerome Hilgers; and her sisters: Francis Ward-Swanson, Margaret Fritzke, Coletta Christiansen and Ellen Peterson.  Glenora's Memorial Folder
