Gary Martinson

Gary Martinson, 56, of Bonita Springs, Florida formerly of Minneapolis and Barnesville, MN died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 31, 2017 in Bonita Springs, Florida.  Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Monday, August 7, 2017 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.  Memorial services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville with Rev. Chris Leach officiating.  Burial will follow in City Cemetery, Barnesville.  Gary Alan Martinson was born on March 14, 1961 to Charles and Mary Anne (Berglund) Martinson in Grand Forks, ND.  He attended school in Barnesville and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1979.  He enjoyed many activities throughout these years including jazz band, sports, and serving as class president.  In 1983, Gary graduated from Concordia College with a business degree.      Gary was a sales representative throughout his life, working in the banking industry.  He worked at the John Harland Check Company and KDA Holdings.  He lived and worked for most of his life in Minneapolis and most recently moved to Florida.  He held many gatherings at his farm near Lake Melissa.  Gary was happiest when he could be with friends, and he also enjoyed traveling and golf.  He is survived by his mother Mary Anne Martinson,  of Barnesville; his special friend, Sandra Heinen; three siblings:  David Martinson, Moorhead, MN; Kay (Bruce) Kramer, Missoula, MT; and Brian (Jody) Martinson, Perham, MN; five nieces and nephews:  Marisa Kramer, Joel Kramer, Carter Martinson, Jordan Martinson, Emily Martinson; foreign exchange brother originally from Bolivia:  Chalo (Monica) Flores, and their children Nicol, Micaela, Natalia; and many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father Charles Martinson; a sister Joan Martinson; and his grandparents. Another Celebration of Life will be held in Minneapolis with more details to follow.  Gary's Memorial Folder
