Ardell Korbel, age 96, of Barnesville, MN died on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Farmstead Living, in Moorhead, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, MN with Father Todd Arends presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Barnesville.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday.
Ardell Lillian Mae Ramse was born on May 26, 1926 to Albert and Marie (Gustafson) Ramse in South Dakota. She attended grade schools in Aurora, SD, Sioux Falls, SD, and Tintah, MN and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1944.
After graduating, Ardell worked in St. Cloud, MN at Char-Gale Manufacturing (Airplane factory) until it closed. She then attended beauty school in Fargo, ND and worked at Minette Beauty Shop in Wahpeton, ND for two years.
On April 13, 1948, Ardell was united in marriage to Arnold Korbel. They lived on the family farm in Wilkin County until 1974, which was their happy place. They moved into Barnesville where they lived for the next 47 years. Ardell moved to Farmstead Living in Moorhead in the fall of 2021. Thanks to the staff for their compassionate care during her time there.
Spending time with her children and grandchildren was near and dear to her heart. She was a longtime member of Assumption Catholic Church and an active member of the St. Ann’s Guild. In her younger years she was a member of the Farmettes. Family gatherings on Lake Lida was some of her favorite times. For 18 years (1988-2006), she and Arnold enjoyed wintering in Texas. Ardell enjoyed quilting, crafts, jig saw puzzles, taking walks, and watching and listening to the Minnesota Twins. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for family and anyone who stopped by to visit.
She is survived by six children: Colleen (Steve Carlson) Richard, of Sarasota, FL, Duane (Jeanean) Korbel, of Brookings, SD, Lynn Korbel, of Wahpeton, ND, Joan (Kevin) Chose, of Fargo, ND, Mary Lou (Mark) Anderson, of Fargo, ND, Brian (Sandy) Korbel, of Fargo, ND, 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years Arnold Korbel, three brothers: Alvin, Marvin, and LeRoy, two sisters: infant Hazel, and Sylvia Schnoor, and sister-in-law Shirley Score.
