Arnold Eddie Swenson was born on November 2, 1932, to Eddie Sylvester and Lilian Wilhelmina (Hahn) Swenson in Deerhorn Township, Wilkin County, MN. He attended school near Kent, MN. He became a full-time farmer at the age of 14 years old. Arnie served his country in the US Army from 1952 to 1955. He was stationed in Germany with the 4th Infantry Division at Hannau and Stuttgart. Arnie was discharged with the rank of Corporal. He returned home to continue farming for his whole life. Even after retirement, he would be found lending a hand to the area farmers.

Arnie was united in marriage to Caroline Paulson on December 9, 1957. They made their home in Deerhorn Township. They bought land and a new homestead and moved to Manston Township in 1965. In 2008, he moved into Barnesville until the present. Even though he always was busy farming, he made time to be with his children and grandchildren. He was a man of strong faith and has been a member of Christ Mitchell Church and later St. John's Lutheran Church for many years.

Arnie worked farming his whole life. He was a founding member of the Minn Dak Sugar Beet Coop, served on the Manston Township Board, the Barnesville American Legion, and VFW. His hobbies include dancing, hunting, and an occasional trip to the casino. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and ability to talk and laugh with everyone.

He is survived by six children: Arnell (Dave) Becker of Manson, WA, Lisa (Jim) Johnson of Baker, MN, Jody (Darrin Myogeto) Stetz of Barnesville, MN, Meloni Swenson of Barnesville, MN, Lona (Dean) Halverson of Barnesville, MN and Deric Swenson of Moorhead, MN; his lifetime friend, Caroline Swenson, of Moorhead, MN; 9 grandchildren: Heather (Ole) Bore, Andy (Heather) Shulstad, Casey (Becky) Becker, Jeremy (Shannon) Stetz, Amanda (Scott) Wilson, Shanna Swenson, Chrissa (Matt) Wolters, Chelsey Halverson and Grace Halverson; 15 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Diane Swenson, of Casper, WY; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Arnie was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Lillian Swenson; and his brothers and sisters-in-law: Duane (Patricia) Swenson, Wallace (Jean) Swenson, and Marvin Swenson.
