Barbara Jean Schwecke

Barbara Jean Smith was born on August 4, 1946, to Billy and Frances (Hayes) Smith in Colorado Springs, Co. She grew up in Moorhead, MN and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1964. Barbara was a stay-at-home mom, raising four children: David, Kathy, Lisa, and Chelsey. Barb made her home in Dickinson for the last 15 years near two of her children.

Barb enjoyed shopping and the thrill of finding a good bargain and had to stop at every clearance rack she walked by. She especially enjoyed listening to Big Sticks Baseball Games in Dickinson, ND. She had a big, sweet tooth and always tried to get the biggest piece of pie at holiday feasts. Most of all she cherished the times she had with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, especially when all the family would get together.

Barb is survived by four children: David Ouellette, of Dickinson, ND, Kathy (Bill) Braton, of Barnesville, MN, Lisa (Dean) Yerks, of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Chelsey (Derrick) Symionow, of Dickinson, ND; her mother, Frances Smith, of Moorhead, MN; and her sister, Judy Johnson, of West Fargo. Grandchildren: Brooke (Luke) Leno, Brandi (Nick) Grant, Tanner (Lexi) Ouellette, Matthew Ouellette, Cole Yerks, Hunter Yerks, Tristin, Caymen, Mason and Julian Symionow. Great grandchildren: Jade, Kai, Oakes, Hudson, and one on the way; along with several other relatives and friends.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, her father Billy; sisters, Nancy & Linda; great-grandchild, Baylor; a nephew, Nicky; and brother-in-law Ken Johnson.

Barb died at her home in Dickinson, ND on Friday, March 11, 2022. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the funeral service.
