Donna Arlene Cook

Donna Cook, 93, of Barnesville, Minnesota, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 25th at SMP Health - St Catherine South Nursing Home in Fargo, ND. 

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 2nd, 2024, at 2:00pm at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm.

Donna Arlene Stende was born November 13th, 1931, to Oscar Lawrence Stende and Clara Jeanette (Sorenson) Stende in Fargo, North Dakota. She grew up in Felton, Glyndon, and Barnesville. She graduated from Barnesville High School in 1949. On June 30th, 1956, she married Philip Allen Cook of Baker, MN and they made their home in Barnesville. Donna worked for Blue Cross as a key punch operator and Eventide as a CNA. she was involved in the Red Hat Society, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Our Savior's quilting circle. She enjoyed traveling with her groups and on her own to visit friends and family. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting and was an avid reader. 

She is survived by her sister, Fern Olsen; children, Susan Brown, Rebecca (Greg) Lamm, Pamela (Kenny) Krebs, Jennifer (David) Hoefs; grandchildren, Sally (Daniel) Carlson-Larson, Kraig Carlson, Joel (Kelly) Brown, Nick Brown, Amy Lamm, Adam Lamm, Aaron (Cindee) Lamm, Brianna (Trent) Conroy, Kelsey Cook, Kari (Ben) Ahrens, Taryn (Andrew) Rutter, Brittany (Steven) Appel, Ben Hoefs, and Sam Hoefs; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. 

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Clara; husband, Philip; sons, Bruce and Brian; daughter, Barbara, her brother, Curt; sister-in-law, Florie Stende; and brother-in-law, Marvin Olsen. 

In lieu of flowers, she requested donations to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 4628, The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #153, The Barnesville Food Pantry, or the Our Savior's Lutheran Quilting Circle.
