It is with a mix of sadness and joyful celebration of a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Dorothy Ronsberg, who departed this world on March 22, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on May 22, 1933, to James and Agnes (Webster) Moris, Dorothy’s remarkable journey began in a world without electricity or running water, where she cultivated a deep love for family, faith, and the simple joys of life.
Dorothy graduated from Pembina High School in 1951 before attending Dakota Business College the following year. She began her professional career at First National Bank in 1952, but her heart was always rooted in her community and her family. On June 5, 1955, she married Odean Ronsberg and together they created a warm and loving home filled with laughter and unforgettable memories.
A vibrant spirit, Dorothy was known for her enjoyment of life’s many celebrations. Whether roller skating to a waltz with Odean or planning unforgettable parties complete with special dresses and elaborate programs, she approached each milestone with enthusiasm and grace. Dorothy's love for gardening shone brightly as she nurtured her beloved gladiolas and cucumbers to make her famous pickles, always ready to share with those who gathered around her table. Her hospitality was legendary, ensuring that no one ever left her home hungry.
Dorothy was honored to serve as the Steam Queen at the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion (WMSTR) for two consecutive years, a testament to her community spirit and dedication. She and Odean attended the very 1st WMSTR on a date and she hasn’t missed one since. She actively participated in the Red River Valley Fair and the Clay County Fair, proudly entering many items and earning numerous ribbons and awards for her exceptional vegetables, baking, and canning skills.
Alongside her family, who meant the world to her, Dorothy loved babies of all kinds, from kitten to infants and especially her grand and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. Her selflessness never went unnoticed, as she often put the needs of others above her own.
An active member of Gran Church, Dorothy contributed to the ELCW and Ruth Circle, sharing her talents and warmth with those around her. She also dedicated her time to the Rollag Seniors and the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion, embracing her role in the community with an open heart.
Dorothy is survived by her beloved children: Larry (Marguerite) Ronsberg, Fargo, ND, Gary (Nancy) Ronsberg, Hawley, MN, David Ronsberg, Barnesville, MN, Judy (Stuart) Shulstad, Barnesville, MN, and Tessie Ronsberg, Rothsay, MN; grandchildren: Nicole Wieser, Ginger Helland, Renee Ronsberg, Gail (Nick) Hoffart, Jesse Ronsberg, Callie Ronsberg, Stephanie (Robin) Luhning, Kevin (Amanda Kuller) Ronsberg, Randall (Jennifer Reynolds) Ronsberg, Mike (Claire) Wiltse, Dusty (Andrea) Wiltse, Matt (Kristie) Wiltse, and William (Betsy) Ronsberg; and 23 great-grandchildren.
