Eileen Grace Halverson

January 28, 1930 — January 26, 2019

Eileen Halverson, 88, died on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at ValleyCare and Rehab in Barnesville, MN.

Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Thursday, January 31, 2019 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN and continue for one hour prior to the Mass.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Friday, February 1, 2019 at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville with Father Gary LaMoine presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Barnesville, MN.

Eileen Grace Schritz was born on January 28, 1930 to Anton and Amy (Smith) Schritz in rural Barnesville, MN. She grew up in rural Barnesville and attended country school. During her younger years, she worked for the Kost Family in Downer.

She was united in marriage to Donald Arthur Halverson on August 16, 1951 at Assumption Catholic Church. They made their home on a farm near Downer, MN where Eileen was the supportive farm wife who cared for her family, raising five boys and one girl. They moved into Downer and in the last few years lived in Barnesville.

Family was the first and foremost joy in Eileen’s life. Eileen could be found in the kitchen cooking and baking, or outside tending to her garden. She was always ready for family and friends to pop in unannounced and they never left hungry. Eileen enjoyed sewing and donated many hand embroidered towels to the St. Anne's Guild. She had a strong faith and was a member of Assumption Catholic Church where she belonged to the St. Anne’s Guild and bible studies. She will be lovingly remembered for her easy-going personality and people enjoyed her great sense of humor.

Eileen is survived by six children: Tim (Laura) Halverson, Surprise, AZ; Kevin (Donna) Halverson, Northfield, MN; Craig (Peggy) Halverson, Baker; Mark (Vickie Nordmeyer) Halverson, Fargo; Steve "Ralph" (Patty) Halverson, Barnesville, MN; and Kristi (Mike) Bolgrean, Chaffee, ND; 19 grandchildren: Erika Johnson, Kari (Chad) Whiting, Alicia (Phillip Perry) Halverson, Torrey Halverson, Erin (Sig) Rishovd, Bryce (Carmen Wagner) Halverson, Tabatha (Jerome) Wasfaret, Taryn (Cory) Unterschuetz, Luke (Lindsey) Halverson, Bryanne (John) Gould, Brittany (Tyler) Thorson, Kelsey (Josh) Erbes, Dylan Halverson, Brent (Erica) Halverson, Brad Halverson, Sheena (Brian) Lee, Alex (Kayla Volk) Bolgrean, Michaella Bolgrean and Maycee Bolgrean; 14 great grandchildren; siblings:, Philip (Rosie) Schritz, Mary Gilmore, Carolyn (John) Ruland, Marjorie Zehren, Jean (Bernard) Underberg, Ruth McEvers, and many other relatives and friends.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2015, her parents; and nephew Mike Halverson, brothers John Schritz and Raymond Schritz.
