Josie Lamb

Josephine “Josie” Anastacia Nosal was born on February 26, 1927, to Joseph “Joe” and Mary (Setlock) Nosal on the family farm in Alliance Township of Clay County, MN.  She was raised and worked on the family farm with her sisters and her parents.  She attended school and grew to womanhood in the Barnesville area. 

Josie was united in marriage to Richard J. Lamb on November 18, 1947.  They farmed in the Downer area all their married life and Josie would help Dick with the field work.  Josie also worked outside of the farm in the Barnesville school system as a janitor and a cook until retirement.  She has been a resident of Valley Care and Rehab for the last five years. 

Josie was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and the St. Anne’s Guild.  She loved flowers and gardening around their home.  She kept a spotless house.  Embroidery was a fine art that she did in her spare time.  Josie loved old time dances.  She also enjoyed playing cards, especially whist, and she bowled on a league for a few years. 

Josie is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Poehls of Barnesville, MN; two grandsons: Tom Kara of Mechanicsburg, Ohio and Tony Kara of West Plains, MO and; 2 great granddaughters: Keyarra (Jacob) Smith, of West Plains, MO and Dr. Mallory Kara, of Cincinnati, OH;  3 great great grandchildren: Makihya, Elias, and Ransom Smith; two sisters: Mary Mathison of Moorhead, MN and Tina Garrison of Moorhead, MN; sisters-in-law: Eva Lamb of Barnesville, and Corrine Lamb of Fargo; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 1985; son Bob; her parents, Joe and Mary; siblings: Anne Lammers, Michael “Sonny” Nosal, Amelia Nosal, Leona Peterson, Cecelia Holland, Lucy Randklev Mosca and Clara Holland; and several brothers-in-law. 

Josie died on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at ValleyCare and Rehab in Barnesville, MN. 

Visitation will be 5-7 PM Monday, January 15, 2024, at Dobmeier Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday at the church.    

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville with Father Todd Arends presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Barnesville.
