Kevin Barta

November 26, 1960 — August 26, 2024

Barnesville, MN

Kevin Barta, a man of humble beginnings and unwavering dedication, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer on August 26, 2024. Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville with Rev. Eric Souer officiating. Visitation will start one hour prior to the service at the church and the Celebration of Life will follow the service at the Pitchfork.

Kevin L. Barta was born on November 26, 1960, in Rockford, Illinois, to Wesley and Ruth Barta, Kevin's journey through life was one marked with hard work, perseverance, and a deep-rooted love for his family.

In 1979, Kevin graduated from Barnesville High School where he not only excelled academically but also showcased his athletic prowess on the football field and basketball court. His passion for sports carried over into adulthood as he continued to foster an active lifestyle. On April 12, 1986, Kevin married Susan Stetz. To this union one son was born, Justin Kevin Barta, who was the pride of Kevin’s life and his best friend.

From a young age, Kevin exhibited a strong work ethic, starting out by his parents at the Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Barnesville. There, he honed his skills in cooking and washing dishes alongside his family. Later on, he ventured into carpentry, dedicating ten years to the craft until an unfortunate injury redirected his path. Undeterred by this setback, Kevin pursued education at the college in Staples, Minnesota in the field of machinery. He found fulfillment working at Case-Federal Machining and grew to love this field.

Outside of work and studies, Kevin found solace in nature through hunting and fishing. These hobbies provided him with moments of tranquility and allowed him to connect with the world around him on a deeper level. Kevin will be remembered for his unique and infectious laugh that complimented his amazing sense of humor.

Kevin's untimely departure leaves a void in the lives of many who knew and loved him. Kevin is survived by his son Justin Barta, who now carries forward his legacy with pride. He is also survived by his grandchildren Everett, Margaret, and Charlotte Barta – each a testament to the lasting impact Kevin had on future generations. In addition to his son and grandchildren, Kevin is survived by his brothers: John Barta and Paul (Renee) Barta; nieces and nephews: Nate, Tyler, and Heather; great-nephew August; and dear friends: Roy Gilbertson, Tim Thompson, Lynn Brekke, and Jerry "Mouse" Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wes & Ruth Barta.

As we mourn the loss of Kevin Barta, let us remember him not for the circumstances of his passing but for the life he lived passionately until the end. May his spirit continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
