Marlys Holt, 88, Barnesville, MN, passed away peacefully at Valley Care and Rehab, Barnesville, MN. on December 2, 2023.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. James United Church of Christ in Barnesville, MN with Rev. John Werner presiding.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Marlys Lorraine Lass was born May 16, 1935, in Elmwood Township of Clay County, near Sabin, MN to William and Minnie (Loebrick) Lass. She attended school and grew up to womanhood in that area.
Marlys married Wallace Holt on January 18, 1958, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin, MN. The couple made their home on a farm in rural Barnesville, MN. Where they raised their daughter, Debra.
Marlys was a member of St James United Church of Christ, it’s guild and circle, was also a deaconess and Sunday School teacher.
She was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. Post #4628 Auxiliary and a member of The American Legion Post #153 Auxiliary.
She helped on the farm for over 50 years and cleaned house for 20 years in Fargo, Moorhead, and Barnesville areas.
Marlys enjoyed doing many things. Softball, golfing, bowling, gardening, crocheting, knitting, reading, baking, and puzzles. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughters.
Marlys is survived by her husband, Wally; daughter Debra (Kelvin) Keena, grandchildren; David (Taryn) Keena and Kayla Keena, great grandchildren Zoey and Avery Keena. Sister, Lavonne (Larry) Leach; sister-in-law, Ione Lass and many nieces and nephews.
Marlys was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Delores Leach, Bernetta Bowen and Elaine Goodwin; brothers, Richard, Carl, William, and Duane Lass; and sisters-in-law, Florence Lass, Elthea Lass, and Marilyn Lass.
