Barnesville, MN

Reginald “Reggie” Bach, 77, of Barnesville, MN, passed away at Essentia Health in Fargo, North Dakota, on October 9, 2024.

Reggie Bach was born on January 14, 1947, to Linus and Margaret Bach in East Grand Forks, MN. He graduated from East Grand Forks Sacred Heart High School with the class of 1964, setting a foundation for a life marked by hard work and commitment. He attended night school to learn the trade of being an electrician, a pursuit he embraced wholeheartedly. He dedicated 37 years of his professional life as a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, where he honed his skills and made lasting friendships.

His service to his country was also of great importance to him; he served honorably in the United States Army, a chapter of his life that instilled in him values of discipline and camaraderie.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Reggie enjoyed spending time with his family. He was working for the railroad when he ended up staying in Barnesville at the Gabel Hotel. He’d gone to Emery’s Café for a bite to eat and that is where he met Marlene Nygard, where she was waitressing. They were married at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on October 16, 1971, and added Wade and Andrea to their family in the coming years.

Reggie's passions extended beyond his career and family. He had an enduring love for classic cars, amassing an impressive collection over the years that reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and design. He also had a penchant for Harley Davidson motorcycles, reveling in the freedom they provided on open roads. Music was another source of joy for him, particularly the energetic and inspiring songs of Bruce Springsteen. Reggie enjoyed camping and going on unforgettable road trips, and often had a loyal dog by his side, sharing in work, adventure and companionship.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Bach; his son, Wade (Stephanie) Bach; his daughter, Andrea (Joel) Nasstrom; his cherished grandsons, Ethan Bach, Jaden Nasstrom, and Austin Nasstrom; siblings: Mary (Vince) Thoma, Marcia (Ed Marthaler) BMarthaler, Pamela (John Tallmadge) Bach, Patty (Ray Hettwer) Bach, Cherie (Dale) Edlund, and Anastasia (Vern) Melzer; siblings-in-law: Carolyn (Sheldon) Swenson, Gloria Emerson, Cindy (Dale) Rollie, Leanne Kittelson, Jerry (Bonnie) Nygard, David (Debbie) Nygard, and Lisa Nygard; many nieces and nephews, and his devoted dog Chet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Linus and Margaret Bach; his uncle, Ambrose Nowacki; and his brother, David Bach, and brother-in-law Wayne Emerson; as well as two special dogs, Pugsley and Harley, who brought joy and companionship to his life.

Visitation will be held on October 18, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Dobmeier Funeral Home, Barnesville, MN. The family invites all who knew Reggie to join them in honoring his memory.
