Richard Charles Gross, born on December 25, 1934, bid farewell to the world on February 18, 2024, at ValleyCare and Rehab in Barnesville, MN. He leaves behind a legacy marked by hard work, dedication, and a passion for improving the lives of those around him. His educational pursuits were equally noteworthy as he graduated from Pulaski High School in 1952 after attending Oakwood Elementary School (WI). Richard then pursued studies in Landscape Architecture and Psychology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
Richard embraced an impressive career journey that exemplified his work ethic and commitment to excellence. From his early days working shifts at Allen-Bradley Company to his role as a pharmaceutical representative for Ryker Laboratories, Richard's professional path was one of growth and learning. He later ventured into managing a wholesale florist in Ventura, California, where he successfully led the company until 1976. Subsequently, Richard became the proud owner of a furniture store in Ojai, CA, transitioning later to owning a custom drapery and floor covering business that showcased his entrepreneurial spirit.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Richard was known for his vibrant personality and diverse interests. A founding member of the Barnesville Garden Club since 2007, he found solace and joy in gardening, landscaping, and annually transforming his yard into a masterpiece. His creative flair extended beyond business ventures into nurturing nature's beauty with his green thumb.
Among his proudest accomplishments were his marriage to Beverly Tansem in 1984, being a proud grandfather and founding the garden club. Despite challenges with declining eyesight, he taught bridge, expounded politically, sang tenor, and had a lasting impact on the lives of 41 adolescent and foster teens.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife Beverly of Barnesville, MN; son Eric Gross of OK; daughter Laura Skoff of WI; Son Robert Fureby of CA; Daughter Christine Smith Williams of CA and Daughter Kelly O'Sullivan of FL. Granddaughters Brianna Gosch and Cassie Fureby and Grandsons Brandon Gross, Robbie Furbey and Allen Mathias. He was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Albertha Gross.
Richard Charles Gross will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his craft, boundless creativity in business ventures and gardening pursuits, and most importantly, for the love he shared with family and friends. May his legacy live on through the seeds of kindness he sowed throughout his remarkable life. Richard has chosen to donate his body to the advancement of medical science and no service is planned.
