Richard Gene Krueger Jr.

Richard Krueger, age 80, longtime resident of Barnesville, MN, currently of Dilworth, MN, died unexpectedly from a heart attack on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND. 

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, December 1, 2023 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with Rev. Kevin Skaret officiating.  Inurnment will be in City Cemetery, Barnesville, MN.  

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday. 

Richard Gene was born on January 13, 1943 to Richard Krueger and Jorgena “Helen” (Poppel) in Barnesville, MN.  He grew up on a farm in rural Wolverton, MN.  He attended school in Barnesville.  He then went to work FM Asphalt, Larry Davis Garage for many years, and for his son Kent.  He was a dedicated truck driver into his mid 70’s.  He will be remembered for his CB handle of Nitro. 

After meeting Diane Kay Aaker in a restaurant in Fosston, MN and they were married on November 30, 1968.  They made their home in Barnesville where they raised their three sons. 

His pastimes included following his son’s sporting activities for many years, in the fall he enjoyed deer hunting.  Spearing fish in the winter was also a fun hobby for Richard.  He enjoyed watching old westerns on television, he was a classic Minnesota sports fan, watching the Vikings and the Twins, and was a big NDSU Bison Football Fan.  

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Diane Krueger, of Dilworth, MN, three sons:  Allen (Donna) Krueger of Dilworth, Wayne (Jill Wenger) Krueger of Moorhead, Kent Krueger of Barnesville, MN,  seven grandchildren:  Riley, Bryce, Justin, Alexa, Kendall, Luke, Brynley, one brother Steven Krueger of Dickinson, ND, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Harold Krueger.
