Steven Carr, 64, died on Friday, March 16, 2018 at his residence in Barnesville under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at St. James United Church of Christ in Barnesville, MN with Pastor Frank Picard officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Honor Guard of the American Legion and VFW posts of Barnesville. Burial will be at Aspeland Cemetery, near Rollag, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday. Steven James Carr was born November 12, 1953 to William Henry and Junette Serine (Haarstad) Carr in Fargo, ND. He was baptized and confirmed at St. James United Church of Christ in Barnesville. He attended school and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1972. He then entered the US Army and served his country for four years. After returning home, he lived in Minneapolis where he worked roofing, managed apartment buildings, and had a snow removal business. For about 30 years, he worked as a carpenter and he had his own business in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 2013, he moved back to Minnesota to be closer to family. He will be remembered as a perfectionist with his work. If he wasn’t working he was fishing. Steven is survived by his life partner Kim Johnson, Barnesville, MN, two daughters Heather Olson, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Valerie Butcher, West Palm Beach, FL, four grandchildren: Tyler and Kyle Olson, and Dylan and Cody Butcher, and siblings: William (Ginger Roesch) Carr, of Sabin, MN, Connie Carr, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Keith Carr of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Mike (Janel) Carr, of Golden Valley, MN, several nieces and nephews.
