William Kenneth Scheer, known to many as "Bill," was born on March 19, 1936, in Fessenden, North Dakota, to his parents William and Albertina Scheer.
Bill attended school in Fessenden and Maddock, North Dakota, ultimately graduating from Maddock. On June 10, 1956, Bill married Elaine Corrin Erickson at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Fargo. They had three sons Bradley, Craig, and Kirby. They lived in Moorhead until 1978.
Among his proudest accomplishments was the moment he discovered six acres of land for sale in rural Skree Township in rural Barnesville. Bill seized the opportunity to purchase the land and went on to build a home of his own on this special property.
In his early years, Bill's career journey began by working for his uncle at a Pontiac/Case repair garage. He later spent nearly three decades driving semi-trucks for Red Owl stores, accumulating an impressive three million miles on the road.
He immersed himself in hobbies such as family genealogy, reading old news stories, and constructing intricate model railroads in his basement. Bill's passion for craftsmanship shone through in his pursuits of building furniture, welding, and tinkering with engines.
He is survived by two sons: Bradley (Peggy) Scheer, Kirby (Denise) Scheer, daughter in law Darcy Scheer, and six grandchildren: Kaylee, Brittany, and Riley; Kyla and Brynn, and Danielle Beske.
Bill shared 66 years of marriage with his beloved wife Elaine Scheer before her passing on February 23, 2023. He was also preceded in death by his son Craig Scheer.
William Scheer died on Friday, July 12, 2024, while working in his yard at his home in rural Skree Township at the age of 88 years.
